Southern Africa - South Africa

Cape to Kruger
South Africa is a world in one country. I think of it as a sophisticated adventure as many of the lodges and camps are more like resorts than safari camps. And, the Cape Peninsula has some of the most pleasant accommodation in the world. This itinerary combines wildlife viewing with the scenic beauty of the Cape and the Garden Route. The first 8 days are perfect for self-drive or with a private driver-guide. I have included 4-days on the Garden Route, which really is a minimum along this beautiful mountainous coastline.

Day 1 - 2
Cape Town
Day 3 – 4
Winelands
Day 5 - 8
Garden Route
Day 9 - 10
Timbavati Game Reserve (bordering Kruger National Park)
Day 11 – 13
Sabi Sand Game Reserve (bordering Kruger National Park)
Day 14

South African Wildlife Safari
If your reason for visiting South Africa is really to see the magnificent wildlife including the “Big Five,” then I suggest your itinerary should include the best game viewing parks and reserves.

Day 1
Johannesburg
Day 2 – 4
KwaZulu Natal
Day 5 - 7
Timbavati Game Reserve or Thornybush Game Reserve
Day 8 - 10
Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Day 11 – 12
Kruger National Park (Private Concession)
Day 13

The Cape & the Garden Route
Most Americans rush through their holiday. The Southern tip of Africa, starting in Cape Town and traveling east up the Indian Ocean coast provides a most relaxing holiday. You can add Cape Town, the winelands, and the garden route to any South African or Southern Africa safari.  Here is one sample itinerary:.

Day 1

Day 2 – 4
Winelands
Day 5 - 7
Garden Route
Day 8 - 10
Addo Elephant Park
Day 13
